Welcome to 2024! I know, we've been here for a little while. Hoping you all had a wonderful holiday season with family and friends. Mine was… interesting. Battling health issues all throughout the holidays put the holiday season on hold and behind for me. So this is why this Blog is coming out a couple weeks into 2024. I just had to deal with catching up and getting better. I can gladly say, I'm finally back to the quasi-normal, weird state I exist in.
Today's Blog is about music! And getting you all back into a listening mood. Do you listen to stuff while you work? While you study? Or during those down times? My 2 albums are perfect for that! And you can find and listen to it almost ANYWHERE! So throw it up while you concentrate, to put some noise in the background and let's get my play count up this year! Makes me a little cash on the side, and gets my songs to more ears who want to discover music. CLICK HERE to find my stuff on your favorite platform! Or click any of my album graphics below!
But wait! There's more! By now Byron Kane should be a household name in the Masterjoda75 Universe. He has helped me mix and produce my albums and is an accomplished musician/producer himself. Well, last year he launched a new YouTube channel called, “The B-Side Underground Synth Radio-Fi" It's a really cool collection of underground Electronic Music from the 90s to now. You'll find a variety of artists, BK's own material from the various projects he's been involved in and several cuts from my own 90's EDM band, “Digital 3.” It also introduces a few really good cuts from Byron's daughter Catalina. She's taking after her old man and beginning to come into her own musically! In regards to Digital 3, I'm really proud of the music Jack Gilpatrick, Craig Sirikavit (RIP), and I pumped out back in the day, and look forward to you guys hearing some tracks that haven't been released in 20+ years! Currently this is the only place to hear it online and to hear it in a clean digital format. All of our stuff was released on cassette back then. I'm hoping to collaborate with Jack on getting Digital 3's entire catalog online at some point in the future. So keep your eyes and ears out for that. For those of you who were following that scene back in the day, this is the channel for you. But seriously, if you want to hear some fresh, retro underground electronic music, you should really check it out. Definitely click that “like” button on any YouTube vids you check out and SUBSCRIBE! Not only does it help with discoverability but if you subscribe you'll be notified when new content is posted. And I know BK has some big plans for this channel. I may also ask BK to put some Masterjoda75 unreleased deep cuts up on there as well. You can hear the playlist with the digital 3 stuff here. Or click the image below.
And finally a few honorable mentions from outside the Masterjoda75 universe…
I've been wanting to give a little plug for this guy.. State Azure. I mean, technically, if you look at his subscriber count, he really doesn't need a plug from little, unknown me. But he has truly earned that massive amount of subscribers! His music is AMAZING. He has this one stunning piece called, “Folding Space” created on his impressive modular synthesizer setup. This is what is known as Generative Music. Basically he has programmed and patched his modular rig to automatically generate chords and rhythms into absolutely beautiful and stunning electronic soundscapes! Think Blade Runner meets Modular! I love playing it in the background when I work. You can check it out below.. The blinking lights on his rig with the music in the background can really set you into a trance state!
Also, check out Jason Lewis' YouTube channel for some interesting tracks to work and study to. He uses what are called Isochronic Tones under his musc. It's designed to increase focus to the listener.. He describes it best:
The session starts off beating at 10Hz and ramps up to the 18Hz range by the 6-minute mark. The isochronic tones frequency then randomly fluctuates between 17.5-18.5Hz to help prevent habituation. This stops you from getting too used to the same frequency when using the track regularly over time. Once the track gets to the final 5 minutes it ramps back down to 10Hz again.
It's an interesting concept, and you can hear the “isochronic” sound under the music. But soon it disappears as you get used to hearing it. I have personally found that it really does focus my work and I find myself working more efficiently when I'm playing it. Of course it might also be sending subliminal brain messages that will be triggered to have me do this guy's bidding at some point in the future. But hey! I'm enjoying the tracks in the meantime… Lol.. I'm just kidding.. Or am I? :-) Click the vid below for a sample track to hear for yourself. But he has a variety of different music styles and genres on his channel from deep house to techno..
Here's one more. Jack G, introduced this channel to BK and I last year. And it's another YouTube Channel to play in the background while you work. Love that Blade Runner music? Well then (LUX) - Ambient Music's “Blade Runner Radio” YouTube channel is what you need! It's all Blade Runner style music with the thick lush chords and sci-fi ambient soundscapes. It really is majestic and beautiful synth music that you will love, even if you've never seen Blade Runner or don't know what that is! Check it out below…
Well, that's it for now. Hope you guys enjoyed checking out the music. And I hope it becomes part of your daily listening this year. It's hard to find fresh, original content nowadays amidst all the noise of the Internet. I'm still working on music, but may not do another album for a while. Instead keep your eyes out for any cuts released to BK's or my YouTube channels. I still want to get a “JAMuary” jam out this month. Just need to sit down and bang something out! Take care, and Happy New Year!
